The First Baptist Church of Kahului was organized. On July 15, 1945, the name was changed to Kahului Baptist Church.  After meeting in various locations throughout Maui, including the Young Men’s Buddhist Hall, a missionary’s residence in Wailuku, three buildings in Naska (near Kanaha), the present building located on Puunene Avenue was dedicated on December 15, 1951.

Since Its Inception...

...Kahului Baptist Church has had the privilege of beginning (i.e., planting) six missions, all of which have been constituted into independent churches.  These six churches are Wailuku Baptist Church (1952), Pukalani Baptist Church (1960), Kihei Baptist Chapel (1977), Maui-Philippine Baptist Church (1989), Maui First Korean Baptist Church (1990), and Waiehu Community Church (2019, more below). Since 1946, the church has also sponsored a preschool to provide a Christian witness to families in the community. The preschool continues to educate many students today.

2016

After years of praying and waiting for the Lord's timing, we launched the Biblical Counseling Center of Maui (BCCM). The BCCM serves to provide counsel to the people of Maui directly from the Word of God, operating with the belief that the Scriptures are sufficient and offer superior solutions to the problems and challenges of life. January 27, 2019

In partnership with Immanuel Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky and Kailua Baptist Church on the island of Oahu, and with the support of many others we sent a team of 2 church planters with their families and 23 other individuals from our church to plant Waiehu Community Church in the area of Waiehu and Waihee. This will be the first church plant we have been a part of in 28 years! They had their first worship service on February 3, 2019. It is very exciting and we are eager to see how the Lord continues to work at Kahului Baptist Church to advance the gospel across Maui and throughout the Pacific Islands.

Kahului Baptist Church Is...

...a member of the Southern Baptist Convention and as such regularly contributes to the SBC’s Cooperative Program to advance the Gospel and send missionaries across the globe.
